The details

Our 1st floor fisherman’s apartment is ideally placed just two minutes walk from the sandy Faubourg beach in Collioure, situated on Rue Coma Cheric. There are numerous restaurants, cafes and shops all within a few minutes walk of the front door.

"The magic remains: the cobalt Med, red sailing boats, ochre walls, lavender shutters, vineyards and dark pines. Home to Patrick O'Brian, the author of nautical tales, for 50 years, Collioure was allegedly the inspiration for San Feliu, the port in his best-selling 19th-century novels. At its best in spring and autumn"

Bedrooms

It has two comfortable bedrooms, one double and one twin - both with windows looking out onto a small garden. Both have attractive characteristic and original ceramic tiled floors with French window railings and traditional shutters. We have tried to decorate and furnish the bedrooms simply and tastefully. We have also placed an emphasis on luxury with comfortable, high quality bedding.

  • The double room has an antique, hand-crafted French sleigh bed, and bedside furniture, with artisan light shades. There is a large fitted wardrobe, with ample hanging and storage space.
  • The twin room has contemporary beds, matching bedside furniture and chest of drawers.

Bathroom

The bathroom is newly refurbished with good lighting, a power shower, heated towel rail, and radiator. We have chosen an attractively designed, traditional French 'vessel style' bowl-basin, which sits on a stylish wooden wash stand with storage beneath. There is also a large towel cupboard.

“Collioure is quite definitely one the prettiest towns in the area...its beautiful lanes and tranquil atmostsphere inspires romance... Spend at least one day there, if it is the only thing you do. Better still spend 7 days”

Kitchen

We know cooking is important in any French home, so the kitchen has been completed renovated and enlarged We have retained some of the original characteristics including the rustic archway and Catalan tiled floor, but combined it with new lighting and a contemporary fully-fitted kitchen. The units are extensive and include a traditional twin French laundry sink, a large fridge-freezer, a dishwasher, electric oven, microwave, induction hob and extractor fan. A coffee machine and full range of matching crockery, pans and utensils are provided - plenty enough to cater for a dinner party of 8 people!

Hall

We have a wide hall, from which the bathroom, bedrooms and kitchen all lead. We have retained the original red quarry tiles and ceiling beams, and there is small window which overlooks some ancient walls of our neighbours. The hall accommodates additional wardrobe space for the twin room and provides further hooks for hats and coats (though not needed very much in Collioure).

Lounge and Dining Area

This is the living area of the apartment. It is spacious with a high ceiling and typically Catalan in character , always light and airy during the bright days, yet rustic and cosy in the evenings . A juliet balcony, with a ‘Colliourian’ balustrade, looks out onto the street outside, just enough space for a chair to drink coffee in the sunlit mornings. Where possible we have tried to retain all of the features and charm of the original property. This includes the traditional French fire place (currently not usable) and wooden beams. The floor has been replaced with solid oak floorboards and the lighting is now more discrete with dimmers and handcrafted occasional lamps in local colours. We have also tastefully decorated the entire property with local photos and artworks wherever possible.

“One of the best holidays imaginable, it had everything...such a fantastic town and so much to do”

The dining table can seat up to ten comfortably and there are two large and comfortable sofas, one of which converts into a double bed. In addition, there is an LCD TV and Blu-ray player and we have also provided a combined iPod dock, CD player and radio.
